FROM MY FREELANCE

Logo design has been a fundamental aspect of my practice since I begun pursuing graphic design. Below is a collection of live logo briefs from a variety of clients: incipient start-ups, SMEs, charities, entrepreneurial ventures all the way to international conglomerates.

'N-Flash' Logo  for New Era Fuels (2015)

New Era Fuels is the UK & Norway branch of multi-billion-dollar oil giant PETRONAS. They had had the same visual identity since the 80s, which led me to pitch the idea of a company-wide re-brand (with my logo concept) when I was 20. I then spent the following 2 years working part-time to implement my new designs throughout the international company whilst studying for my degree concurrently.

'Monogram' Logo  for Graham Greene Trust (2019)

The Graham Greene Birthplace Trust commissioned me to design a new logo that 'combined modern and traditional styles' to highlight the timelessness of Greene's writing. I did so by using the 'GG' monogram to overlay a traditional-looking serif G with a contemporary sans-serif G to create a self-contained roundel.

'E-State' Logo  for Enfield Properties (2016)

Enfield Properties sold housing properties and investments in Essex to business owners. This commission that requested a 'combination of traditional and modern styles', in order to appeal to a wider demographic. I achieved this by using a contemporary utilisation of negative space and a house skeuomorph within a typographically traditional serif E.

'Outreach' Logo  for Youth First Charity (2017)

Youth First is a London charity that operates in Lewisham, providing volunteer-led youth services. Client presented the concept of using the Y as a person with arms outstretched but recognised its cliché. I therefore used the motif in a new and unique way, combining both the Y, O and F to the same effect.

'Pegasus' Logo  for Anglia Fuels (2016)

Anglia Fuels was a regional home-heating oil company in East Anglia. Client wanted a very 'traditional feel' that incorporated the East Anglia Knight - a widely recognised emblem of the region - to establish the new company as just as notable and reliable as its elder competitors.

'Quadsaw' Logo  for GeniusIP (2016)

Quadsaw was a start-up company developing a innovative drill attachment which transformed the circular motion of the standard drill-bit into a quadrilateral sawing motion. The logo therefore reflected the square incisions the product produced, and was given a bold, modern aesthetic to resemble other tool-box products.

'CatNap' Logo  for Tonbridge Fuels (2016)

Commissioned to design a logo and visual identity for an incipient home-heating fuel company with the tagline 'Local Company, Local People'. I created an illustrative image of a sleeping cat on a radiator with a warm colour scheme to create a neighbourly, friendly brand presence and designed a typeface to accompany it (Acrona).

'OpenKey' Concept  for TfL (submission) (2016)

This concept was submitted to Sadiq Khan’s #LondonIsOpen campaign for London following the referendum result of Britain’s secession from the EU, which aims to affirm the city as the same thriving hub of international culture. The colours mimic TfL’s and an image of a key has been included in the negative space created by the ‘O’ and the ‘E’.

'Chrome Badge' Logo  for Green Axxe (2016)

Commission by an environmental research organisation, the client required 7 completely distinct logo designs in order to appease a wide range of tastes among the company's various directors and shareholders. This challenging but ultimately satisfying project resulted in a car-bonnet badge style design.

'Lithium' Logo  for Lithium Tech. (2015)

Lithium Tech. was a commission for an I.T. support start-up company that required both a logo, visual identity and name. Visually resembling a circuit board, the title is formed of custom lettering to yield a tessellation effect for the name, itself one of the key elements included in laptop computer batteries/power-packs.

'F-Prop' Logo  for Forest Properties (2016)

As the partner to Enfield Properties - instead dealing with industrial properties - Forest Properties shares a colour scheme and feel with its sister company. Keeping the use of skeuomorph and negative space, Forest presents a minimalist icon of an industrial building and forms an F in the space of the building lights.

'InfiniteGO' Logo
